Prep Your Hands for the Open!

Posted by: Emily Beers

With the Open one week away, people everywhere are making predictions. Will this be the year of the bar muscle-up? The handstand push-up? The pistol? Will it be heavier than normal? The amount of time we waste thinking about it is actually insane because the truth is nobody knows exactly what Dave Castro will throw our way.

But despEmily Beers doing chest to bar pull-ups at a CrossFit competitionite the unknown surprises that are sure to come, there are a couple things I’d put money on:

1. Chest-to-bar pull-ups in high dosage

2. Considering how competitive this year will be with only 20 regionals berths on the line, repeating workouts will be more likely than ever this year

Combine both of these theories, and this means hands must be ready to hang on for dear life!

There’s nothing worse than feeling your skin shift as a giant callus breaks itself free and turns into an instant water or blood blister. A rip is inevitable. The deeper the callus, the worse your hands are going to feel when the blister rips open, and the angrier you’ll be at the thought of repeating a workout with 60-plus chest-to-bar pull-ups.

So prepare your hands: Keep those calluses thin with RIPT’s Grind Stone and stop your hands from drying out with Daily Dose. And if by chance you still rip, heal up quickly with Quick Fix.

Nothing heals my rips faster!
